Marquette native Adam Hamari could call balls and strikes in a deciding American League Championship Series Game 7 on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

The Tampa Bay Rays took a 3-2 series lead over the Cleveland Guardians with a 3-1 win in Game 5 on Sunday, Oct. 18, according to ESPN. Hamari worked first base in that game. He is scheduled off for Monday night's Game 6 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, according to the Mining Journal.

If Cleveland forces a Game 7, Hamari would work behind home plate, according to the Mining Journal. The series isn't there yet.

The 43-year-old Marquette Senior High School and Northern Michigan University graduate now lives with his family in Colorado, according to the Mining Journal. He is part of a seven-man ALCS umpire crew led by crew chief Bill Miller. Hamari worked the plate in Game 6 of last year's World Series, when the Los Angeles Dodgers won 3-1 to force a Game 7.

The Rays got to this point by winning two straight in Cleveland. In Saturday's 7-3 Game 4 victory, the Mining Journal reported, Jonathan Aranda had three hits and two RBIs, while Yandy Diaz added a two-run homer in the ninth inning. Tampa Bay's top four hitters combined for six of the team's 11 hits after going 7 for 41 through the first three games.

Chandler Simpson called Game 4 a "big bounce-back game" and said the team would take it one game at a time.

Drew Rasmussen then shut down Cleveland in Game 5, pitching seven innings and allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six, Sports Illustrated reported. Rasmussen has surrendered only three runs in 21 postseason innings this October.

Diaz, who had three hits in Game 5, guaranteed a Tampa Bay clinch in Game 6. "It's a great opportunity," Diaz said, according to Cleveland.com. "All of us are thinking of it. But it all ends tomorrow. We're going to win tomorrow."

Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said Gavin Williams will not start Game 6, according to Sports Illustrated. If the Guardians win with a bullpen game, Williams could start a potential Game 7.

Game 6 is Monday night at Tropicana Field. If the Guardians survive, Game 7 is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, in St. Petersburg. All ALCS games are carried on TBS and truTV, with streaming on HBO Max.
