Republican U.S. Senate nominee Mike Rogers is scheduled to campaign in Gladstone at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, following a planned morning stop in Marquette.

The campaign’s schedule listed a 9 a.m. Marquette event and a Gladstone stop with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. An evening event in Mackinaw City is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Upper Peninsula stops are part of Rogers’ statewide bus tour before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The scheduled visit comes one week after Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed toured the region with U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. They attended town halls in Escanaba and Iron Mountain and a rally at Northern Michigan University’s Vandament Arena in Marquette on Oct. 15.

WNMU reported that more than 1,200 people attended the Marquette rally.

Rogers’ proposals include health care price transparency, payroll-tax reductions, expanded domestic energy production and skilled-trades apprenticeships, according to MyUPNow.

The same report describes El-Sayed’s proposals as including Medicare for All, removing the income cap on Social Security payroll taxes for high earners and federal oversight of artificial intelligence.

“Yoopers are worried about paying for gas and groceries,” El-Sayed said, according to WNMU.

A Marist poll released Oct. 21 found El-Sayed at 50% and Rogers at 48% among likely voters. The survey was conducted Oct. 15-18, and the likely-voter results had a margin of error of 4.3 percentage points.

Michigan’s required early in-person voting period runs Saturday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 1. Voters can check their assigned site through the Michigan Secretary of State’s voting information.
