The 19th annual Run for Recovery returns to Marquette's Superior Dome on Thursday, Sept. 10. The fundraiser helped 89 people access addiction treatment through Great Lakes Recovery Centers last year.
GLRC hosts the event, which offers a 10K run, a 5K run and a 5K walk. On-site registration opens at 5 p.m., and the race starts at 6 p.m.
All proceeds go to the Compassionate Care Fund, which covers treatment costs for GLRC clients who are uninsured, underinsured or otherwise unable to pay.
"Last year, in 2025 we had 89 clients that were able to take advantage of that fund to ensure that they get the services that they need," GLRC Chief Development Officer Jim LaJoie told WLUC.
LaJoie called it "a great, great fund to help those folks" who are uninsured, underinsured or unable to pay.
How the race started
GLRC held its first Run for Recovery in 2007 in Marquette. By 2019, the event had expanded to include simultaneous races in L'Anse and Sault Ste. Marie.
The 2025 edition, presented by TruNorth Federal Credit Union, was the event's biggest year. It raised $20,000 for the Compassionate Care Fund and drew more than 100 participants, according to GLRC's event page.
Team discounts are available this year for groups of four, six and eight.

Pre-registration is open at glrc.org/run-for-recovery. Walk-up registration is also available at the Superior Dome starting at 5 p.m. Thursday.
