Keweenaw Peninsula lodging revenue slipped just 3% during summer 2026 compared to 2025, according to Visit Keweenaw figures reported by the Keweenaw Report.

Visit Keweenaw released summer figures, drawing on market data from AirDNA and CoStar for Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

Visit Keweenaw pointed to fuel costs and Canadian wildfire smoke as potential obstacles to travel, the Keweenaw Report said. The data covers overnight commercial lodging. Campground stays and day trips are not included.

Still, Visit Keweenaw said events, outdoor activities and repeat visitors helped sustain summer travel. It is encouraging visits for fall colors and winter recreation.

Visit Keweenaw’s September newsletter highlights Travel + Leisure’s selection of the peninsula as its recommended Midwest fall road trip. Houghton also hosted the Canal Colors Festival in early October, combining several autumn events, according to the Keweenaw Report.
