St. Ignace and Rudyard bring matching 5-1 records into their Friday, Oct. 9, football matchup in St. Ignace. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., according to Rudyard Area Schools’ calendar.

Both teams enter after wins last week. St. Ignace shut out Bellaire, while Rudyard beat Brimley 46-6, a score also reported by WLUC.

St. Ignace quarterback Caden Lester completed seven of 10 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns against Bellaire, according to SooLeader’s Week 6 report. Colt Fettig caught two passes for 58 yards, both touchdowns.

Liam Brown added 75 rushing yards and a touchdown on four carries. Jed Brady, Dominic Bloxsom and Dylan Shepard also scored rushing touchdowns.

Rudyard’s game against Brimley ended after two quarters when Brimley forfeited because injuries left it short of players, SooLeader reported.

Alex Blackie led Rudyard with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on three carries. Blake Bickel added 70 yards and a touchdown, while Emmitt Grenfell ran for 60 yards and a score. Jett Sawyer contributed 46 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs also scored 72 points against Stephenson the previous week, according to SooLeader’s earlier report.

Friday’s game gives both teams an opportunity to earn their sixth win of the season.
