The Marquette County Fair opens in Sands Township on Thursday, Aug. 13, with a live acrobat show and mini golf course joining the lineup for the first time, according to TV6/WLUC.

The three-day fair runs through Saturday, Aug. 15, and features livestock shows spread across four barns, food vendors and kids' entertainment from Double Trouble, which will set up inflatables, bounce houses and games on the grounds.

Walt Maki, president of the Marquette County Fair Board, said the fair has something for everyone.

"There's lots to offer this year. They have animals, of course, four barns full of animals; we have a horse show two days, we have a livestock show on Thursday, a big livestock sale on Saturday," Maki told WLUC. "If you're not into animals, we also have fair food and lots of it."

The livestock show kicks off opening day Thursday, with a horse show running two days and a big livestock sale closing things out Saturday, Aug. 15. Animals on display include horses, cattle and small animals.

Returning food favorites include Brisket Barn and Croatian chicken, alongside other fair food trucks.

Battle of the Badges

The Sands Township Fire Department is also using the fair as a chance to give back. The department is collecting non-perishable food donations for local food banks as part of the Battle of the Badges, a charitable food drive and kart race set for Saturday, Aug. 15, at 4:15 p.m. on the fairgrounds, according to a Sands Township announcement. Collection bins are at the Sands Township office.
