Classic cars and bikes will line North Third Street in downtown Marquette on Saturday, Aug. 15, when the annual Classic Cars & Bikes on Third rolls in to raise money for the Women's Center of Marquette County.

The free show runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Ohio and Park streets. All proceeds go to the Women's Center, which serves survivors of domestic and sexual violence across Marquette and Alger counties.

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority is collaborating with the Women's Center to put on the event, according to Travel Marquette. The show started as a way to remember Jessica Drummond, according to a 2023 Upper Michigan's Source report.

Anna Fry, a Women's Center staff member, described what participants can expect in an interview with WBUP/WJMN: "You show up, we'll take the information for your car and your contact info. You'll just park it, and people will be able to walk around and look at the different vehicles."

Entry is free.

Beyond the vehicles, the day includes food vendors, live music, a radio host, face painting, a kids' corner, 50-50 raffles and gift basket sales.

The fundraiser matters for the nonprofit's bottom line. State and federal funding covers two-thirds of the Women's Center's annual operating costs for direct client services, according to the organization's website. Expenses including Harbor House emergency shelter, educational materials and satellite offices in Marquette and Munising are covered through donations, community grants, third-party fundraisers and revenue from the center's Pak Ratz resale shop. The Women's Center maintains a 24/7 support line at 906-226-6611 and offices in Marquette, Munising, Gwinn and Ishpeming.
